If you have not gotten the insider build you will need to do a hard reset!!!!!

for hangouts i use IM+ and it works good for a non official replacement.

I have a T Mobile 640 LTE and the latest build works wonderfully and i have no problems so you should be fine. It is a very fast and fluid build and really lets you see that the hardware the 640 series has is not as anemic as it looks.
