I have just replied to another thread on this problem and the way I fixed it was to create another account and work in that one and everything is now OK. The start button and the task bar were not working on mine and Avast antivirus is installed as well

I had the same problem and the way it was fixed for me was to create a new account and work from there and everything ok. I also have avast antivirus running but it is still working.

I created a system repair disc and when I tried to use it to reinstall a system image it came up with a something or other violation and would not work. As it happened I had an earlier image made in acronis which did work with their repair disc and so installed that and updated again

It is a generic key for all. The id's of the components in your pc are kept at Microsoft and they are used to validate if you reinstall.

Just go to Microsoft.com downloads and use the media creation tool picking the correct 32 or 64 bit version and follow to download create an iso and install by starting windows and then putting the disc in the drive.
