I think he's referring to what Microsoft did recently: bundle up the mobile version of a website and put it on the store as an app. Really, there's no advantage of doing that, other than the (tiny) bit of extra coverage you'd have by having an app in the app store.

I suppose it kind of makes sense that the OS is killing the app if it is failing to respond on a back key press. It would seem as if the app really should be quitting by that point, and if it hasn't then the OS kills it.

Any word whether the original news article was indeed about the same trojan as last year, or is it something new?

Does the latest version of WP8 allow any sort of file to be attached to an email? W7.8 only allows pictures as attachments unless you go in through another way and 'share' the file. If they haven't fixed that yet, then that gets my vote.

I might as well toss in my two cents onto what has already been said: One reason a dev might wish to still target WP7.8 is because the requirements for developing for WP8. WP8 requires a developer machine running Windows 8, as well as a WP8 phone, since you can't run WP8 apps on a WP7.8...

I guess I stand corrected! So suppose a person writes an app that uses the Microsoft framework for handling in-app purchases. Is that then billed through the carrier, or does it provide an option for different payment methods when making the purchase?

Thanks for the feedback. I won't be using a data plan, but I do run on wifi both at home and school. I generally listen to music on my ZuneHD, so the bulk of what I do on my phone is texting, heavy calendar use, and checking Twitter a few times a day. If the Mugen battery runs another $40...

The interesting thing is that it works almost all of the time. It's only every few days that the touch screen craps out. When it does, I pull the battery, put it back in, restart the phone and it's fine. Sometimes it goes for days or even weeks without issues, and other times it acts up...

There does seem to be a pretty decent developer community here, which makes me happy. The few questions that I've posted have had pretty quick responses, and it seems like everyone is quite knowledgeable. I'm sure this will come in handy as I get ready to submit my first app to the WP...
