I figured I'd just stop by and introduce myself. I'm Joel - a grad student at the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada, North America, Earth).

I must say, I've been quite impressed with wpcentral, especially how active the news is.

I'm looking at developing a WP8 app, and could potentially use a bit of feedback on it. Also, in order to do so, I'll need something running WP8 (rather than my existing WP7.8 LG Optimus 8). I've had a look around the marketplace forum, and there's definitely some nice looking phones for sale there. Oddly enough, I couldn't reply to the one thread though. Just out of curiosity, is there a rule in place that says that someone must be a member for a number of days before they can post a reply?

I would recommend picking up a Lumia 520/521 if you are getting one just for testing purposes.

Basic rules are that you must be a member for 30 days and have at least 50 posts on here.

Ah, that'd explain why I was unable to post there. Understandable. I'll just have to hang in there for another 27-ish days. Thanks for letting me know about that.

That being said, I'm quite interested in getting a 920, simply because it is going to be my go-to device, and replace my existing phone. I was looking at the 620 (which I can get for $170~ish (cost including the cost of an unlock code). The cheapest I've seen the 520 locally is $120 (plus the potential cost of an unlock code). I figure for the extra $100-$150, I might as well go for the 920. I was thinking they were still $400+, but a few eBay searches (as well as the recent DealFisher post) shows otherwise. I guess the trick is to try and find one that is in still very-nice condition.

There does seem to be a pretty decent developer community here, which makes me happy. The few questions that I've posted have had pretty quick responses, and it seems like everyone is quite knowledgeable. I'm sure this will come in handy as I get ready to submit my first app to the WP marketplace.
