Windows Central article on Band didn't even register in Band 2 forum

"What comes next after the Band for Microsoft?" Nov 4, 2016 What comes next after the Band for Microsoft? | Windows Central Guess everyone learned from the Windows Phone debacle although even today, more than a year after Microsoft took the $7 billion writedown of Nokia, some still are pushing...

Would you still buy a Band 2?

As a one off, I'd buy a brand new Band 2 for $50. Short term I think those who like smartwatches will eventually gravitate toward Samsung. Fitbit and Garmin have the mainstream fitness device market pretty much to themselves at this point. One reason why Microsoft didn't have a Band 2...

Band2 is starting to fail, should I try to replace or just go back to FitBit?

Based on what you wrote in this thread, I'm guessing that you're expecting a smartwatch announcement or tie-in from a third party?

Band2 is starting to fail, should I try to replace or just go back to FitBit?

If you are one of the hardcore, serious fitness types, you'd do better with Fitbit or Garmin just because you know they are committed to providing fitness bands in the future. Fitness bands are Fitbit's main business. Garmin has been doing it for over ten years. They probably aren't going to...

Thinking of purchasing a Band 2, is it worth it at this point?

Since I'm on the subject of old tech devices, my oldest wearable is a Garmin Forerunner 301. More than ten years old. Built solidly like a brick and the GPS and functions still worked. The original battery life was a lucky 13 hours but it didn't hold that long a charge the last time I was...

Thinking of purchasing a Band 2, is it worth it at this point?

Mainly because I haven't seen anyone out and about with a Zune in years. I have a Sandisk mp3 player and a Sony mp3 player in a drawer somewhere. I really don't need or want to carry around an mp3 player along with my phone.

Thinking of purchasing a Band 2, is it worth it at this point?

So you still have the Zune you bought when it was discontinued?

Thinking of purchasing a Band 2, is it worth it at this point?

With the news today that Microsoft removed the Band 2 from the Microsoft Store and even the Band 2 SDK (see the ZDNet article), the simple, easy answer is no, don't buy it. Well, maybe as a novelty device. I'd pay $50 for a brand new Band 2, not a refurb. Remember the Band 2 was released a...

Microsoft abandons its own HealthVault app

Does your doctor even want to see the data from your Band 2? Reliability of the data and information overload comes to mind. The HealthVault app not being upgraded for Windows 10 Mobile is probably an acknowledgement that Windows Phone doesn't have a big enough following and also a sign of...

should we be worried about the future of the Microsoft band?

Is HoloLens considered to be a wearable? That might the the wearable that Microsoft will be working on next year for certain. With consumer electronics, you don't spring products on retailers at the last possible moment. Other companies show their products at trade shows months in advance.

should we be worried about the future of the Microsoft band?

Microsoft also has HealthVault which was supposed to be about medical data storage and subject to stricter privacy regulations as compared to the consumer version of Microsoft Health/Band.

should we be worried about the future of the Microsoft band?

They could but if it is true that a new Band isn't coming out this year, that means more than a year since Band 2. Will people with broken Band 2s outside the warranty period wait for a Band 3 that might never be released? The Fitbits and Garmins and Samsungs release several models per year...

should we be worried about the future of the Microsoft band?

Not unexpected when you consider that Microsoft has been making Bands for less than 3 years while sports device companies like Garmin have been at it for 10+ years. Fitbit hits the ten year mark next year.

    Band 2 getting discontinued

We only need to wait at most until June 30 for Microsoft to confirm with a cancellation announcement or not then. Forty-one days isn't too long to wait.

    Band 2 Competition - Garmin Vivosmart HR+

I wasn't thinking of it being positioned specifically against MSB2, more against the range of devices currently at $200+. For $220, the Vivosmart HR+ should have at least a color display. It doesn't have to be OLED but color is information.
