Just spoke with a best buy representative who said the band 2 is being discontinued in June and Microsoft has not told them of a replacement
😢😬

I wouldn't worry. Microsoft usually doesn't stop making popular products without a replacement.

Hmmmm. Maybe Best Buy is dropping them. Never can tell.

With Garmin releasing the v?vosmart? HR+, if MS stands still, they'll be roadkill.

I haven't heard any Band 3 rumors and I doubt MS would be discontinuing Band 2 without something type of replacement around the corner.

Sent from my Surface 3

I would take what a Best Buy rep says about any product with a grain of salt. If any of that is true, I would guess that they are going to stop selling the Band.

I agree. Something doesn't pass the smell test here. If Microsoft was going to stop production on the Band 2 and introduce the Band 3 for June we probably would have heard something about it by now. Plus they keep announcing updates for the Band 2 that add new features, so why keep upgrading the current product if they are going to create something shiny and new? Something doesn't add up.

I hope so I've been wanting one been waiting for a price drop preferably below $100
So you want a great product to be discontinued with no replacement available, just so you can get a price break. Good luck with that, supply and demand and all that. Not to mention karma for your selfishness. :\

I agree that if it was being discontinued we would of heard it by now. As to band 3 it probably won't be out till next year from what rumor is saying. And we won't hear about it for a few more months anyways. So I myself would just ignore that best buy rep.

You mean like Windows Media Center, Surface RT, and Zune ???????

Sorry just pointing out an issue with that statement.

WMC makes the popularity cut but the other two? They had fans but weren't that popular.

Off the top of my head guess is that the BB guy was referring to the end of the Band 2's $175 'sale' price. Yes, despite the May 21st date cited when the 'sale' began.

You know what i do when i go into best buy.....put on my headphones and drown out their nonsense. People have got to skipe listening to best buy guy

There is a host of things Microsoft just left on the shelf past Surface RT and Zune which each only has a 2 Generation run. The first I can think of is Active Sync.......so many things of that little app became useful, just left to rot. Active Sync had one of the earliest forms of "Hand Off". I could control my Windows Mobile device on my PC as it sat in it's cradle. Sending text messages via my PC through active sync out through the phone.

Don't get me wrong I am not down on Microsoft but they do have a history of killing something before it most times has the chance to grow it's popularity.
Surface RT platform could have been the poor man's entry to say an always on Windows 10 for Mobile Continuum.......something that would be an almost beautiful fit to the UWP line of apps.

At times it's almost like Microsoft can't see the Forrest for the trees.

Best take anything a store rep says with a mountain of salt and I would recommend everyone does their research. For instance Currys in the UK have started force selling recovery usb stick for ?35 for laptops - Which they pre-set up... therefore preventing users from creating their own recovery usb sticks after OOBE Wizard. They wouldn't sell a laptop without it them as they would be selling a "faulty laptop".

Going back to the band, I highly doubt they are going to stop selling the band.

Didn't they just push out an update for explore and hiking features for the band 2?

I 3rd this! Do NOT necessarily believe what the Best Buy rep told you. They are FAR from any kind of official source. IF and when any kind of announcement is made regarding the Band 2 or any replacements for it you can BET Daniel Rubino, and the WC editorial team will be all over it! Just keep your eyes on the WC front page. :) There's always good info there anyways!

It definitely wasn't in reference to the end of the sale. This was best buy for business. I was making a bulk order for a company and my account manager wanted to give me the heads up that they are being discontinued in June. His words. I use the band for my business so he wanted to make sure I knew

We only need to wait at most until June 30 for Microsoft to confirm with a cancellation announcement or not then. Forty-one days isn't too long to wait.
