    M8 on 10586

Ok I've had the worst battery draining/overheating on my Verizon m8 with the latest build. The issue I found was verizon's "backup assistant plus" was using 75% of my battery in the background. This continued for days .. Until I eventually found and disabled the "contacts" permission for the app...

HTC One M8 Issues, can I get some help?

I've had multiple m8's never had that issue to be honest. Then only thing I've really had is overheating issues. I still think it's a good phone, just wish HTC and Verizon had shown more support.

Yeah I used to have those problems.. I did not setup backup assistant when I reset my phone before upgrading to windows 10 as I saw no use for it. For the longest time I thought I couldn't get the overheating to stop but not setting up the backup assistant and also not using vz cloud messaging...

I don't know what you expect? It's still a technical preview. There is going to be bugs. Especially more on phones that are non nokia/microsoft. This build works good for me. Positives out weigh the negatives on my end. I don't use Dot view.

I was coming from 8.1. Took a while for 10166 and 10512 to both install. Make sure to download all the system apps(HTC sense tv is the one I couldnt go without). Before you upgrade to windows 10.

The office apps for windows 10 are much better than 8.1. Did you download them? This is probably the first build I'll keep. The oem apps aren't in the store so if you delete them you can't get them back. Also oem "extra" settings apps like Dot view and tap to wake don't work either. Apart from...

    Dot View settings

The only way I have been able to keep the "extras" settings...Is when I upgrade straight from 8.1. If I do a hard reset after they disappear. ****ty because the hard reset helps out in other ways.

Ok so earlier I updated my verizon m8 to gdr2 ... I was wondering, is that what prevents us from updating to windows 10 tp?. In the windows blog post today it lists a specific version for the Verizon m8 that will be excluded. Is a downgrade worth trying to going to windows 10 again..hmmm...

From what I read this also flashes your radio firmware. So id advise against doing it if you are not on Verizon.

So I also successfully downgraded to 8.1. (Verizon m8) Very easy. All you have to do is put it in boot loader mode. Download the rom and flash utility. Then flash it. Took very little time. There is a tutorial video on pg 8 of the Verizon rom thread over at xda forums.
