I agree. I'm owner of my second 1020, and I'm still waiting for a phone with the same great camera.

Don't fight against Microsoft. Windows Phone 8.1 is fine and Here Drive is working. Wait quietly until the next great photo phone.

On 1020 pics resolution is outstanding, colors are good (on auto) on many occasions but sometimes you have to do some tweaking on PhotoShop. DNG format allows you to "take" (in some way) the photo again.

Lumia 1020 is able to zoom from 26mm to 70mm equivalent optic and the pics obtained are 3270 X 1728 pixels at 70mm, with no digital resampling.

On 950 you can't zoom, the same as in other phones. However it's true 1020 is old, but working fine. You'll have to purchase a more recent phone with photography capabilities when you renew. Perhaps an Apple phone ?

If you really want results as in compact cameras or reflex (waiting 1 second for autofocus to be stabilized) there is only Lumia 1020 or Panasonic Lumix CM-1. It's better than Lumia 520 and L1020 works like a charm with windows phone 8.1 (denim). Apps Here Maps and Here Drive are available for...

Camera sensor is bigger on L1020: Sensor 41 MP PureView, 1/1.5″ size, versus 20 MP PureView, 1/2.4″ size. It's true that camera on L1020 is slower, but results stand up against those of "real" cameras. I was given by Microsoft no other choice than buy another Lumia 1020.

1020 is the last great Nokia phone. After 3 years, mine got deteriorated, and in fact I purchased another one. With Windows Phone 8.1 Denim it works like a charm.

If you want to try W10 you have to go through "insider" and install "previews". It's fairly stable except that on Lumia Camera photos aren't always in focus, and from time to time you can't save the photos taken.

I don't believe a word Microsoft says. They have lost all credibility with the Windows 10 upgrade. As Redstone improves, after all it is just a "variant", there will be more updates. The pace of updates will be more or less the same as on PCs.

Thru "Insider Preview" 10586.420 we have the last "production" O.S. version, the same as on PC. No reason to don't go further on updates.
