What are these vertical interference lines on my Lumia 535?

Vertical inteference lines on Lumia 535

I bought a Lumia 535 last week but after 4 days it developed multi-coloured vertical lines - like electronic interference (best way I can describe it) which makes it difficult to use the touchscreen on various websites like bank accounts because the interference will be over something I need to type in. It's really annoying and is constantly there. Can it be fixed? Or is the handset faulty? What do I do?
