Now, its uncommon for phones to have higher quality DACs, but I thought I would ask - does the Lumia 950 support higher than 16 bit, or higher than 44 kHz audio?

Ie can I use DVD quality, or 96khz flac media on it?

I'm doubting so, but I thought I would check.

Okay it took a bit of searching but I found this. snapdragon 808 and 810 use "Qualcomm® Hexagon™ V56 DSP". According to this source:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Processor Powers Premium Tier Mobile Experiences of 2015

Qualcomm® Hexagon™ V56 DSP provides :professional quality audio: with support for the latest Dolby Atmos, and up to 24-bit/192kHz music playback"!

So does this mean my Lumia 950, can if fact play full HD flac music? Should I be loading up my HD flacs and using even more drive space right now? ;P

Okay had now seen that it multiple places. I'll have to try it. Looks like 950/XL do in fact support 24 bit/192khz (Honestly I usually just go for 48khz, 24 bit though, DVD quality)

I wanted to try out Groove Music and OneDrive together so I ripped a bunch of CD's. I started using FLAC only to discover Groove Music doesn't support it (at least not from OneDrive). So re re-ripped them in whatever Windows Media Player's lossless format is. Works great on the 950.

Hmm, I suppose I could convert to WMV. Bit of a pain.

There's a foobar2000 beta, but its unavailable.
There seems to be a selection of other players in the windows store, on mobile that support flac. The most familiar of which is VLC....

In a way, I'd kind of prefer to keep using groove. But VLC is okay.....hmmmm
