Battery Drain / Hot when in sleeve

My unit gets hot while in standby mode (closing the type cover 2 while having an app running to go to sleep) while inside the sleeve/case. So a full battery would probably last 6-7 hours while in standby in the case. I haven't notice doing this when it wasn't in the sleeve/case. I also have not seen this without the type cover 2 attached. From what I can tell when the Surface was resumed, the screen was off while it was in standby but seems to be running some processes and the CPU was not in deep sleep.

Anyone else experience this? This is about my 3rd time running into this issue out of 10 times putting the surface 2 in standby with type cover 2 in the sleeve? Does the surface need ventilation while in the sleeve? My Lenovo Yoga does not need ventilation while in sleep mode and only get's about 5% drain every 24 hours in standby.

Never had a problem with this myself (I also have a type cover 2 and use a sleeve from time to time).

I'd suggest having a bit more of a detailed look at what's going on - go to command prompt in the desktop and type powercfg - batteryreport then press enter and you'll find a pdf file in your windows/yourusername folder. That'll give you more info as to when its been draining and exactly how much.

Mine averages out at about 330 hrs of estimated connected standby time.

Next do the same thing but with the powercfg -sleepstudy command and you should be able to find any culprit tasks (the report will be in the windows/system32 folder this time). What you do next will depend on what's causing the drain.

Exact same thing here with my Surface 2 Pro with TypeCover 2.
If you take off the cover the tablet goes to sleep as expected - attached TC keeps it awake with the display turned off.
Hope MS will fix that with the next firmware update - it really sucks!
