So that app has been causing overheating issues and battery drain every time i use it on my surface. Last night i uninstalled it and reinstalled it.

No more overheating or battery drain.

I know refreshing the device can help wipe bugs. But can reinstalling apps really fix their issues?

I know for a fact that only the xbox video app caused these issues because i had other video apps that didnt have the same effects. They ran well.

Your own experience would seem to suggest the answer is "yes". :)

Perhaps a corrupted component causing the app to launch too many threads and eat up CPU cycles? Can't really say with certainty of course but as long as an uninstall and reinstall fixed it who cares?
