Windows Central Question

I have problems installing recent updates on my surface pro(1st generation).

To gain more space, I used the recovery to start all over again. Now I have tried several times to update the system and I won't update. HELP!

You may need to reinstate the Activated status. Did you change anything in the UEFI-BIOS settings?

Tap+hold the windows symbol on the bottom left corner and release for the pop-up menu, then select Control Panel. Look for System and tap that. Wait about 30-seconds and see if at the bottom of that screen it says "Activated". You will need to have access to the Internet of course. We can go from there...

Also, installing from the recovery may have an older update system. The Surface will need to download and install that first, so leave it online for an hour then come back and try restarting, it might say "installing 1 of 8..." The Update system is downloaded independently of the Windows Update service. There is no option to start or stop it, msoft makes you get it.
