Nokia Lumia 1020 Otterbox Overheat

I've been using the otterbox for the Nokia Lumia 1020 for a while now and just recently the phone just "died." I'v tried the restore (volume down + power) and charged it. I think the phone overheated and died in the otterbox. If anyone else has had experiences like this let me know. Kind of mad that my new phone is dead.

Did it overheat? What was the problem?
