i agree in a way but we all must agree too that thus 1520 is kinda a move foward with 1080p quad core but then backwards with 16 GB of storage and no built in qi charging . Does one really want to deal with this " other storage" issue with only 16gb of internals?

My post was more generated to the guy I quoted, since I had to explain the same thing to him in another thread, not toward this thread in general.

Yes, I could POTENTIALLY see stripping out Qi charging since AT&T backs Power 2.0, but the whole 16gb thing is just dumb for them to do.

Do you have a definitive source for this? I've seen different bands listed in different press releases but nothing definitive showing the RM-938 with Band 4 like you state.

From the FCC files:

Difference between RM-938 and RM-940 is that DTM feature and WCDM1700/2100 (Band 4) will be disabled from RM-940, and RM-940 will GPRS support multi-slot class 10. In the testing reported here multi-slot class 12 has been available as worst case in all the samples. Additionally, difference between RM-940 and RM-938 is that RM-940 has only Wireless Charging interface pins in the backcover, while RM-938 has built-in Wireless Charging (WPC/Qi) loop.

does that mean that I can buy a RM-938 and put it on AT&T? Or will they only work with T-Mobile?

It should work with both, you just have an extra band that won't be used on AT&T

this /\ ... is what i am very curious to find out something solid on as the device rolls out. if i am going to spend my money, i would really like to decide to go with the device as it was intended to be from Nokia, not what at&t believes i 'should' want & need.

Nokia Lumia 929, which is the 5 inch version of the 1520 with the same specs, is scheduled to be announced some time. We just don't know when.

Unfortunately this kind of thing is likely to become more common. LTE bands vary across the world and it may be difficult to make one phone that works well with all of them. Probably the manufacturers will get there in the end, but it will take some time.
I think the iPhone 5S and 5C have seven variants each. It's bad news for everyone - extra cost for manufacturers, higher prices for customers and less portability. :-(

The one exception I would point out is the idea of the RM-938 if you buy one and put it on Tmobile. Although this is the latin american variant, it actually fits onto tmobile's network better than the US variant will. Then, Tmobile offers international roaming to something like 100 countries at no extra charge. That's true portability, the only thing is trying to buy one from brazil or something

This is WPC you're talking to.
No instagram? Solved

Needed amber RIGHT NOW? Tutorial within a day

We, sir, will find a way, like we always do. Screw you, AT&T.

haha I like it. I know there are websites that sell international unlocked gsm phones to customers in the US, but they tend to get the phones sometime after the US counterparts are released..
