Is it worth buying a 1520 at this point?

I'm considering buying a 1520 since my 925 is crapping out. Is it worth it at this point? Or would it be best to wait until they release different ones? Anyone know when they'll be making new releases btw?

The one M8 is also a pretty awesome device if you'd wanna consider it.
IMO, wait till Microsoft's big event in January about Windows 10.
Who knows, we may see a new flagship then

The 1520 is still the best WP to date. Others may argue that but no one who decides on it has regretted it. As for your last question, well, that's been on everyone's mind here.

Me, I want the 1520, but my 920 is still running like a freaking champ. I'm going to wait until it stops getting updates before I decide to switch.

Those year old devices pretty much keeps up with anything on the market right now from any other platforms. The 1520 is a beast and more than holds its own. Plus its guaranteed to get Win10 when launched. Forget that nonsense about not buying it. It's still a worthy upgrade. Windows Phone is highly optimized and on par with ios is terms of resource management. Go for it.

At this point I generally question buying into WP.

But that aside, if you can snag a good deal off ebay for a used one, say sub 250, I'd still bite. Yes, it's a year plus. However it was still the highest specced windows phone device, and still is, next only to the M8 in processing, and 1020 only for the camera. So it's still a good buy if gotten sub 250 (199, is my roof personally). But yea... we don't fully know what's coming at MWC, and even less about WP10/W10.

May make it worth it... or not...

I briefly pondered on that question 3 weeks ago but decided to go for the 1520. Best decision :). Amazing phone. I did chat with a Microsoft rep who clarified there was no 1525 or 1530 coming out in the near future. Also remember, Microsoft has confirmed 1520 will get the Win 10 update. That is huge for me as I have been a devoted Surface Pro 3 (and previously the Pro 2) user, so by next year, I will have Win 10 on both devices and I am done for a while :). Absolutely no regrets on getting the 1520 - quite the opposite - now I wonder why I did not get it earlier.

Thank you very much for your insight! I have a question, how is the display? Vivid? Vibrant? But you guys have me all excited to get a 1520 now! :D

It is IPS LCD in 1080p @ 367 pixels per inch. Beautiful. Natural tones without the over saturation of AMOLED. I really prefer IPS. With the Brightness and Color profile settings you can really dial the screen in to your preference. IPS has superior visibility over AMOLED in bright sunlight. The pixel density is very good. You would have to put the screen abnormally close to your eye to see any pixelization.

I love my 1520. There is no smartphone on the market that I would trade it in for, but I wouldn't dream of buying one now, given how Microsoft is on the cusp of telling us about their mobile plans for Windows 10. While the 1520 has the best chance of getting the most Windows 10 features, its all speculation. Why not wait? I'd buy a cheap 520 or 635 and sit back and watch the show.

If you're talking a somewhat cheap replacement for a dying phone, sure. If you're talking about getting locked into a contract with a carrier or paying the full $500+ for the device, absolutely not.

What's with this "Resuming" BS.
No resuming here.

The 1520 is worth every penny of 250. Especially if your coming from any other WP device.
I paid 300 about a month ago for a mint condition 1520. No regrets what so ever. IMO, the 1520 out performs all other devices I've had. Including the LG G3 running ASOP.

Screen - top notch
Build - highest caliber
Processing - smooth as butter
Call quality - top notch
Camera - top notch
Size - takes getting use to

I think flagships won't be released until mid to end of next year. So spending $250 on a high quality device that you will use for 8 months isn't bad call.

Absolutely, it will get better with the Denim update and also make sure the model your getting off craigs list is not the 16gb "gimped" AT&T model :winktongue:.
If it is then I would suggest if you can get a hold of a 1520.3.

I have no idea why folks are still hesitant on getting the 1520. I think its all but confirmed that no new flagships are due till late next year.. The 1520 and all other lumias will be getting denim firmware as well as Win10 when it rolls out too.. You can get a cheap 1520 on Ebay or right in the marketplace on Windows Central. Go for it. You got nothing to lose. Like I said before....the 1520 can still run with the big boys on either Android or ios.

This is the move I just took. I migrated from a 925 to a 1520, and totally love it. Its a great device in every way. Yes, its big, but its just so good.
