Yes its software and hardware related, Microsoft bringing it later is a possibility but the way glance is implemented now they have to change it

Actually the glance can only be implemented on an IPS-LCD screen. Both lumia 730 and lumia 930 have OLED(IPS-LCD plus AMOLED tech thingy). So they dont have that feature. And Glance is very much difficult to be emulated thru software. But, lets just hope we would get it on L730.

Not entirely true, because the L925 has an AMOLED screen and has in fact the glance feature. But what the difference is, is that the newer phones with OLED screens have another type of display which (according to Windows Central) lacks "screen memory" which makes glance impossible. I guess that memory works the way that screen with memory can hold a single screen capture, and can display that image without the need of rendering the image from the processor, while screens without the memory would have to get the image from the processor 60 times a second, like it would if the phone (and screen) is turned on. That would takes too much power to be a functional feature. But that's just my guess. Would've thought they'd solve this problem in newer handsets after the complaining which the 930 and Icon received after it was known those devices didn't support glance...
