Backordered Status?

Just got it, exactly 24 hours from when I ordered it, yours will come...
thought I was special...

It's been over 24 hours since I preordered online and I haven't received the email. I used my upgrade. Keeping my fingers crossed though.

I'm wondering whether the people receiving these emails preordered online or in store.

Hello everyone,

I ordered the Lumia 900 this morning (about 8AM eastern time) from the AT&T website for $0.00. I received a comfirmation email immediately and another about a half hour later which reads:
"We have processed your order and it has been sent to our warehouse for shipment.

Your order cannot be changed or canceled at this time."

Hope you guys all get yours as well :)

I have not gotten a note/email/anything that the warehouses are out of phones from COR. I'm at work, there is not any message in our POS that says we are out of Lumias. This is most likely automated because the phones are not fully loaded into the inventory system yet. This happens every iPhone launch also, guys.

Evelyn: I am sorry the date for the delivery is 4/5/12 not 4/3/12.
Andrea Maietta: so why did i receive an email stating that it was on back order?
Evelyn: Because we do not have that device in our warehouse as of yet.
Andrea Maietta: ok so it is still set for a 4/5/12 ship date?
Evelyn: Yes, that is correct, Mr. Maietta.

If the situation becomes so dire that AT&T doesn't have enough phones, the retail store reps would get a giant pop-up window that says STOP ORDERS every time we logged in.

I am not worried about anyone not getting the phone. I don't know how many the stores will get, but I know that if almost every rep in retail got one as a COU device, there will be tons for sale.

Thanks for that update AndreaCristiano. Mine says Processing, and I never got any backorder notification. I really think AT&T has plenty of these to fufill the orders.

I got one e-mail from AT&T saying that my Lumia 900 will be delivered on or before April 6th. I got this e-mail yesterday at 3:40PM EST. I've received no further e-mails since then.

I got skittish about ordering accessories with my phone order so I ordered my gel case as a separate order a few hours later. I felt that if there is anything that could hold up an entire order, it's not a lack of phones, but a lack of accessories. Not knowing exactly how the ordering system works, I felt it'd be better to be on the safe side and keep the two orders (one for the phone and the other for the $20 skin).

My phone is on "pre-order" status. My gel case is "processing".

My source with at&t wasn't much help. They could indeed be sold out because they didn't expect this many preorders, they could be sold out as a publicity stunt, or they could be backordered until they are actually ready to ship.

His gut says it's the latter as he's seen nothing cross his desk about the unavailabilty of the Lumia 900 and he's the last person you talk to when you've gotten nowhere with other CS reps.

Doh!!! thats what I should have done. :) Darn, I hope that case doesn't hold up my order.

I just got the email exactly 24hrs after ordering, so I'm convinced that it's just the automated system. :)

I think we should all stop worrying about this. I thing the backorder thing is just because the device hasn't been released to ship in the system yet that tells the computers at the warehouse not to ship any of the devices otherwise the automated systems would be all screwed up. AT&T ships all orders the same day if receiver before 10pm central time. I live near the ATC Logistics building where all this is done I work in that building a few times a year its an interesting process. I haven't been in this week but I can grantee you this is being handled like an iPhone release they have all the Lumias in one pick module under armed Gard waiting for the backorder to be released. This happens 2 or three times a year when AT&T has a big phone release. When the 4S was released I had to do some work in that areas I was escorted the entire time. AT&T takes these releases very seriously. It would be a huge fail if Nokia and AT&T failed to have a proper supply on hand to meet the pre orders. No units have shipped to the stores yet this is to insure that they have enough units on hand to cover the pre orders. Once our units have been shipped AT&T will send out the remaining inventory to the stores each stores unit count will be based on individual sales.

Anytime you pre-order a phone from AT&T it immediately goes on backorder. AT&T ships their phones very quickly. If you ordered any phone that is currently released today, it would ship tomorrow. This is the way the system is setup. Since this phone cannot be shipped immediately, it goes into backorder status.

It will ship on Wed or Thursday as expected and you will receive it on Thursday or Friday as expected.

I have been through several pre-orders and all of them go this way. This is normal. There is no need to panic.

I wish AT&T would tell their customers this when they pre-order but for whatever reason they don't and every time they get tons of phone calls, complaints at the stores and phone forums blowing up with panicking people who already sold their old phones, ebay'd them or something.
