NFC Payments with Unlocked ATT 920?

I was thinking of unlock my ATT Lumia 920. I was wondering if anyone knew if this would all for NFC payments on the phone? I was informed that NFC payments were currently blocked by ATT and thought that possibly unlocking it would allow for them? If not, does anyone know of how to get NFC payments on a Lumia 920? Thanks~
