Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!
So I should talk about my Moto Maxx.
When I first got it, I instantly felt the heft. Make no mistake, folks, this is a heavier phone. But when it is packing a 3900mah battery, I have no complaints. I've got the all black ballistic nylon model - the only option. I like the texture of the nylon - nice feel, good grip. Design is more utilitarian...not as sexy as the Moto X 2014. I do like the grey + red or grey + blue ballistic nylon options that its sister phone - the Droid Turbo has. Just the change in color scheme would make the design more interesting, but oh well.
Screen is good. QHD AMOLED. Surprisingly, and more to my liking, it isn't as overly saturated as the X 2014. I like more colder colors for my screens, so this is up my alley (not as cold as the Z3's screen). I found the punchy over saturation of the X 2014's screen to be a bit of a turnoff...albeit, manageable one.
Performance wise, no lag here. AOSP Android + 3GB RAM + 805 processor = very good performance. Camera is OK, serviceably acceptable, not great. Even though there is heft to the phone, I like the screen size at 5.2". Battery gets me through two days mixed usage comfortably. qHD screen is a gas guzzler, along with 5.0.2 anyways. 6.0 should really improve things...even though battery life for me is pretty good.
Pros:
Good screen size, huge battery, Qi built in, Quick-Charge built in, internals run great, very good audio quality, splash resistance.
Cons:
Design of the capacitive screen buttons, Camera so-so, cannot charge the phone turn off using Qi, Moto's decision to apparently jump from 5.0.2 to 6.0, quiet loud speaker.
All in all, very satisfied. Makes a good work phone and a great Z3 complement. It just needed a better camera and the IP57 (or IP67) rating and I'd happily park my Z3 permanently. Moto did a nice job here...it was worth my trolling to find one on and off for the past few months.
