Is it less secure to share shortened links to Onedrive folders?

When I share a folder there is an option to shorten the URL. Since it is not shortened automatically, there must be a reason why people would want a huge link. The only advantage I can think of for having a large link is that it is more secure than the shortened link. Does anyone know if this is true? If there is no disadvantage, why don't they automatically shorten every link?

It's not less or more secure.

Some web sites/services don't like shortened URLs because it's not immediately apparent what the destination is. People clicking on the links also might not trust the link without trusting the source (think about how the links in phishing emails work).
