Hello all,

Long time I haven't posted here. Anyway, I have a bit of a situation I could use help with and figured I'd post here since it's the phone forum I'm most familiar with these days:

I'm on AT&T, Samsung Focus. I'll be traveling to Italy for 11 days, which is long enough to leave me feeling uncomfortable without a cell phone.

I could get a pay-as-you-go sort of thing there, but I'd much prefer to keep my trusty Focus (along with its address book and emails I need to read while I'm there, appointments, etc).

Is there any way to bring my Focus, unlock it (or... something) and get a local provider (TIM, I'm guessing?) to stick their own SIM card into it? I've never unlocked a phone before so I'm a bit out of my element here.

Thanks in advance.

Don't quote me here but I've heard that ATT will unlock phones for international use, but I'm not sure if that's true or if there's a charge.
