Using an SD card in WP8 that was used in a WP7 device

I have two microSDs that were used in Samsung Focus devices. I know that WP7 uses the encryption available on the SD cards and makes it so that a low level format is required to use the card on any other device. The problem with this is that you need special software to do this type of format. Can a WP7 encrypted SD card be formatted for reuse by a WP8 device?

Nobody has tried this out yet? I know the 920 and 8X don't have expandable memory but someone surely has one of the others that does.

I think this might work (it's a pain):
How to unlock & revive SD card after Windows Phone 7
or
How To Unlock & Decrypted Windows Phone 7.5 Mango SD Card & Back To Android On HTC HD2?
or
You can use a Nokia E71 to unlock and format it

Remember, you WILL LOSE any data on the encrypted SD card. This is why I avoided WP7 :straight: As for a WP8 device unlocking/formatting and encrypted WP7 MicroSD??? Good question.
Awesome, thanks for this info. I have a 16gig microSD and a 32gig that were used in WP7 devices and need to be formatted. I'd still like to see someone test this with WP8. Maybe we could convince Daniel to check quickly for us since he has several WP8 devices on hand.

Those thinks all require that you have a dev unlocked (or equivalent) device or a Nokia E71. None of which are available to me unfortunately.

I don't think you need an Dev unlocked device. I think you need an old device. The problem is I can't find a place to download the WP7 Update Cab Sender It keeps sending me to the same blog, but the link is to his first page, not to the actual page that has the download on it.

I found all of this, and finally got it loaded on my PC, but I can't get the app loaded on the phone. So maybe I do need an unlocked phone.
