Competition is what brings change. We need it to drive us without competition life becomes stagnant. That said there is nothing wrong with choosing sides that doesn't mean you're against competition. By choosing sides your helping your team want to work harder. I think everyone understands competition nobody is calling for the death of their competitors by choosing.
I think the author makes a good point about competition being necessary for growth but I think the whole idea that people want their chosen OS to wipe out the others is misguided. I haven't seen any evidence of that. Does he make some good points? Yes. Best article on BGR? Probably.
