Is there a way to stop the me Tile from showing notifications from Facebook and Twitter?

I mainly use it just to tweet and do check-ins without having to open the proper apps (in a fast way), but I don't like always having notifications in them.. (which most of them I have already read).

So, is there a way to stop it from loading notifications?

I have a 520, and I wish I had your problem. My live tiles very seldom update. They flash notifications from months ago!

Unlink the accounts. You don't have to link to them. Just use the Facebook app when you want. Done.

I don't want to unsync them since I use the Me Tile to do fast-updates on Facebook and Twitter, but the Notifications there annoy me.
