Disable Facebook Messages/Toasts

Talking to my brother has recently brought up a topic I haven't had to deal with before. I know that in Settings-Applications-Messaging I can turn facebook chat on and off, but is there a way that I can disable facebook chat if I'm logged into FB on a browser, e.g. while im away from home i receive toast notifications and messages, but if im at a PC and logged into facebook, I don't.

Any ideas? Because I can't find any.

Probably not the answer you were looking for but if you use the Facebook beta app, it seems to do those things you're asking for as I have not had a toast or notification when on the computer, but I do get them when I am not on the computer. Can't say anything about the built in fb chat though...
