OK I am using a Synology Diskstation to stream movies that I have ripped from DVD. Initially I was just using the straight MPEG2 from a DVD, but as a test I used handbrake to convert to MPEG4 using the high profile. The results are the same... if I view them on anything else, they display correctly as 16:9 (DSVideo app on iPhone 5 for example), but on the DSVideo app for Windows Phone 8 they are 4:3

The same is said when I try to play them using MoliPlayer Pro. So something is up...

Any ideas?

Have you contacted the developer of Mobiplayer to ask if there was an issue? I was under the impression that WP were 16:9 aspect. Did you encode your videos to be both?

I'm just trying to see if there is another answer to the situation. Seems a bit odd that you have this issue.

Just installed moliplayer on both an iPhone 5 and iPad 2 and they both play the files as expected (with black bars top and bottom on the iPad). I've emailed the developers in any case, maybe they can help.

This is moliplayer running on both, using the same source (streamed MPEG4) but for some reason it is the wrong aspect ratio in WP8 :crying:
