I am not sure how many people are aware of this but it took me a long time to realise that you can simply swipe the toast notifications to hide them.
It happens very often that for instance, people are chatting in a group in Whatsapp and I am playing. So I will receive a new toast notification everytime somebody sends a message in that group. I can simply swipe the toast to right to hide that notification!!

This way, I can also partially read what is written n that message without leaving my game and actually opening Whatsapp app.

I figured this out quite a while ago. I assumed others knew of it. But still good info to pass along for those who don't know. :)

I discovered this by accident. I woke up one morning, and instead of tapping, my finger slipped.
