How to properly sync playlists

I cannot for the life of my sync my playlists on my Lumia 920 the right way.
I've tried via Windows Mediaplayer & Windows 8.1 - Music (xbox music).

Syncing via Xbox Music ends up with half of my songs not being recognized for cloud storage (or not in the Xbox Music Database).
The other half ends up with: You're dont have the rights to play this song, Please make sure you're an xbox music subscriber.
Other songs end up correctly on my device (and in the playlist).

I've also tried a 3rd party music tool (Mediamonkey) to sync my playlist on my phone.
Everything syncs fine, the files end up on my phone and can be found by the Music app and Nokia MixRadio but the playlist that I just created and synced via that tool just doesn't end up on my phone.

This kinda makes my phone useless.
I have to revert back to my ipod for basic playlist functionality. Kinda silly if you ask me.

Can any help me with this issue?

I'm in the same boat. I am unable to sync music to my WP8.1 (dev preview). From a win7 box, using the WP desktop app, it sorta works, but it won't always transfer all the files, just some, or none. Some of the Zune playlists show up, some don't.

I moved all my music to a win8 device, and I went into Xbox music, found it had imported my playlist (yeah!), but most of my music shows up with no icon. Some show up with a cloud icon. I took about 10 songs, and did the "add to cloud collection". But, the playlists don't show up on my phone the way they are supposed to (one playlist does show up).

I also tried windows media player on win8, and sync'd a playlist to the phone, but it doesn't actually DO anything, the playlist and songs don't appear on my phone.

All I want to do is create a playlist, click on it, and sync to phone, like you used to be able to do with Zune. Is that really so hard?

Microsoft is trying SO hard to be clever with Xbox music, and OneDrive, that they have made the system completely USELESS!

The Windows 8.1 app has not been updated, which you think Microsoft would actually do ya know... since they are the developer. Right now it no longer has access to your phone, the share playlist function used to work flawlessly, but was broken by the update 1 for windows 8.1, and the 8.1 windows phone update.
