Hello, I really, really like Metro/Modern UI design and finally I became new user of Windows 8.1. In those couple of days I was happy getting used to my new OS and I didn't mess with configuration but from out of friggin nowhere something terrible happened to my bottom bar.

    It was like this:

Now it’s gone (Auto-update changed something?). And when I want to pin programs I got this menu:

And I hate that pop-up window abomination, it disgust me. How to reverse it?

WP Central community please, help me.

You've updated to Windows 8.1 Update 1, which is a new update! It is more suited for desktop users, you will now only get that bottom bar if you are on a touchscreen device. You'll get that Windows Explorer context menu if on a desktop or laptop.

You can reverse the update if you want from Windows Update.

Thank you for your reply. It's horrible that Microsoft forces this upon Windows users. In my opinion we should have an option to switch back without uninstalling update. If I cannot switch back to bottom bar without uninstalling update what should I uninstall? I got a lot of updates on list and I don't know which one is responsible. Can you give me update KB number?

The problem is, once you uninstall the offending Spring updates (KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2959977, KB2937592, KB2938439, KB2934018), you will no longer get anymore updates.

Oh yes, I forgot that. I read that Microsoft won't provide further updates to Pre Windows 8.1 Update 1 users. So if you want further updates, you can't rollback.

Damn. What if I uninstall only one update, will I get support? I hope this setting is stored in one update, not in all six, but if I need all six to get further updates it sucks.

Press space, then the bottom bar appears. With mouse you'll get the context menu.
