To sync or not to sync?

The thing I've always disliked about iPhones is the necessity to sync with iTunes. With Windows Phone and Android you don't HAVE to do it. But which is better?

I'm used to copying things through Windows Explorer. But would the Windows Phone App be a better choice? For instance, I've seen people saying they've synced with Windows Media Player and that, all of a sudden, the XBox Music app (Windows Phone 8.1) recognized all the ID Tags. That's what caused me to ask this question.

So, to sync or not to sync?

I will prefer the old method , copy paste method via windows explorer. Though app can do the task much quilt and you know what content is being copied to your device. You can select which artist you want to sync. But the app for me wasn't that impressive.it gave me duplicate songs in my music folder. It was all messy and I had a had time clearing /reorganising my photos, videos and music.
When you talk about iTunes , it's great but also a pain. Great because you can create backups , update your iPhone /any other iDevice. Sync selected apps, music , TV shows, books. iTunes is the slowest app in my computer hehe and at times my iPad just fails to sync (it hangs on preparing a list if apps to sync step 1-5 ).

Well.......that really depends on the person and the phone........

When I had my 4s...syncing with iTunes was a breeze...with my 1520 it still works, but not as good.

Many prefer other methods, like cut&paste..Win Media Center and such for the Windows phone but I have yet had a good experience using any method yet ...

Android was great too..using any method,so for me personally,it's just a platform issue that has yet to be resolved properly across the board for all WP devices.......as too the video aspect for stored video on the phone, they don't have a great player for it yet like IOS or Android has,and don't see one coming any time soon.......

I use windows media player to sync due to the fact that its easy and works well and when I tried drag and drop from opening the hard drive on my desktop and the phone it would copy over very well but when i would try and delete things sometimes the phone/process would just hang there and take forever.

Still prefer using Zune. Rate songs on the device and if I had a playlist made of all songs with a full heart and set to take broken heart ratings off the device I could do so while playing the music, doc the device and it would update the playlist and take the songs off the device automatically. For me this came in handy as I have a crapton of music and didn't want to have to sit at my computer and go through 90g of music rating songs 1 by 1. This way I could do it at my leisure and over time organize my collection in a simple way. It dramatically changed what I listened to and allowed me to find music I liked far easier but now I can only do that with my Zune because Microsoft wont allow WP to sync anymore.

I liked iTunes syncing as I have a lot of smartplaylists and having them shuffle content on my iPhone was great.
Now with Windows Phone there's no such functionality (that I've found). I use Windows Media Player to sync. But it's hit and miss if it works or not. And the lack of playcount updating means that any autoplaylists based on playcounts/dates don't work.
