    I used the following method..

    Step 1 - Looked at WP Central news section as I do daily
    Step 2 - Read the thread about eligible devices
    Step 3 - Went teary eyed at the non sight of 920 or 1020
    Step 4 - Read the reasons MS gave
    Step 5 - Lovingly kissed 1020 goodbye
    Step 6 - Shoved it under table leg that was wonky
    Step 7 - Looked at the free BT speaker I got with it and smiled....

    the free things worth more than the thing it came free with

    Seriously though..MS WAKE UP U NUMPTIES!!!!!

    Passet to Fast ring, rebooted, installed Fast Ring config, rebooted, checked again and...
    No updates.
    They released it today anyway for all supported phones, except L635.

    Windows 10 Mobile preview build 14291 released to more Fast ring Insider devices

    I can confirm that I performed this hack on my 1520 to give Redstone a whirl before it became widely available (as of today, actually). The WDRT ignored my registry settings and immediately recognized my phone as a Lumia 1520. This may be a "your mileage may vary" situation but I strongly doubt that editing your registry to emulate a 950 for OS updates will cause the phone to try to install an invalid firmware. Time will tell. :)
    Interesting experience! I've seen some other users claim that they did get firmware update which caused scaling issues, which is why I brought it up..

    I put a 950 sign in my 520, but nothing. Later I'll try the 650 sign.
    I guess there's a RAM check somewhere in Insider config update files, there's only one in forum that upgraded a 520 but I cannot find him

    Nope. That's not working on 512 MB. I'll try finding a chinese local lab could replace memory chip for 50 € as they actually do on iStuffs

    Install it using windows phone power tool. Also turn on developer mode and pair ur device with PC. You need bisual studio to run windows phone power tool. So many things to run RS build on 512 ram phone. So if u can do it..then go on....

    Nice! I thought if there's a way to get later updates because 10586 looks like it will never get an update again.
    But I'll wait until they merge branches, then try this (hopefully still working) trick.

    Doesn't work on 520, tried 950 and 650 signs
    Maybe a RAM check during update

    Hi there! You don't even need vcreg! You can simply do it with Interop Tools.

    1. Copy the file to your phone and install it from there (if nothing happens and it does not get installed, then first install all "dependencies" in the app package) and try again
    2. Open the app and go to "Registry Browser"
    3. Change the needed parameters
    4. Bam! You can install Redstone! :)

    Well, I actually found a xap file but it will refuse to deploy. So, I will try your part. Thanks!

    I have tried all of these steps. But after completing all the processes Upgrade Advisor tells that Windows 10 update isn't available for this phone. I used the values of Lumia 950 XL (Single sim). 14364656_1791321317748895_6195717652688077089_n.jpg

    All my research lately said that 512MB devices (e.g. Lumia 520) could never go past 10586. I don't remember how exactly but I have a Lumia 520 which somehow got stuck at 14393.1066. Until today I had no luck with RS2 builds but the recent announcement by Microsoft that "unsupported devices can use RS2 at own risk" or whatever it actually said got me to thinking I should try again.

    A quick browse of the Microsoft Update Catalog searching "10.0.15063.251" shows three updates available: for NTN-FI, ELI-FI and 000-FI based devices. No mention there of specific model number variants at all but drilling down the details shows requirement of "Windows Mobile 10 Production: Approved RS2 Device Targeting" and (OSVersion >= 10.0.14393.0 or < 10.0.15063.251) so I decided to try one of those.

    I already have the Interop Tools registry browser on the phone from previous attempts.

    In HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo I made the following changes:

    PhoneHardwareVariant = RM-1085
    PhoneManufacturer = MicrosoftMDG
    PhoneManufacturerModelName = RM-1085_11302
    PhoneMobileOperatorName = 000-FI
    PhoneModelName = Lumia 950 XL

    Then in Windows Insider settings I selected Release Preview.

    Behold, my 512MB Lumia 520 has downloaded "Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones (10.0.15063.251)" and "Insider Release Preview configuration update" and is currently preparing to install. I'll post back later after it either fails or succeeds.

    Side note: during the time I've had 14393 on this phone it has been very sluggish and many apps crash randomly. I suspect this is because of the tiny memory available.

    I can confirm that values for Lumia 950 XL don't work anymore if you are trying to download windows 10 on an unsupported phone. Use values for Lumia 830 if above is the case for you.
    Use this website as a reference: Use values for Lumia 830 from here

    [Edit] The link might be dead.
