sync won't recognize Outlook is running

I've been trying to get my new Tilt to sync for about a week now. It will sync the files and media, but it won't sync calendar, or contacts because it keeps telling me I need to run Outlook, but Outlook IS already running! I've tried everything, unistall, reinstall, different user names, etc.. I now think that my Tilt would make me happier if it were at the bottom of my pool. This is my first Window smart phone. I've had treo's in the past running Palm OS. Has anyone had this problem?

I have! I found that deleting all the device profiles from activesync usually fixes it.
