Not sure if I have a hardware or software issue. I just updated my 1520 to Windows 10 (build 10586.29).
The touch screen will randomly stop working. I'll be trying to scroll, open an app, etc. Nothing. I have to reboot the entire phone. I also get random ghost touch issues.
None of this was happening on Windows 8.1. However, I have only had the phone for two days. Used 8.1 for one day and have been using 10 today. That is why I am unsure if this is an OS issue or a hardware defect.
Should I recover back to 8.1 or try to return the phone? I love the UI of Windows 10 mobile, but it is unfortunately too buggy.

Try the windows phone device recovery tool:

The ghost tap issues may not or may not be attributed to the screen flexing a bit. This is well documented through out the forums, however the folks I know who have the 1520 don't have that issue.

The 1520 is a stellar device, it will last you a long a while.

Thanks. I've reset to 8.1. We shall see how it goes tomorrow. Hopefully this will fix the touchscreen not working properly. Otherwise I'll have to get a new one again :/

Well, 8.1 runs better so far. No more ghost tapping, but I still get the back button getting pressed whenever I use the phone in landscape mode with the back button pointing down. (Mostly when using the camera.) After this happens, the touch screen becomes unresponsive and I have to turn the phone off and on again.
I also noticed that on that side of the screen, the glass is slightly separated from the body of the phone. Just a small crack, but enough to see light coming through from the LCD. Could this be the reason for the back button issues?

I think I've figured out how the glitch happens. When I squeeze the bottom of the phone, the back button activates and then the touch screen dies.

I'm having similar issues, I've noticed that when I get the ghost touches/unresponsive screen if I insert a usb cable & wiggle it about a bit, flexing the usb port the issue goes away for a few seconds. Thinking of trying some broken phones on eBay to use for parts because it definitely seems hardware related, at least in my case.

Mine still freaks out randomly. I ended up going back to win 10. Same issues. It is definitely hardware.
The hardware buttons on the bottom are to blame. The back button gets stuck, Cortana loads randomly, and then the screen freezes. Still some ghost tapping in bottom right corner, too.
Most like an issue from the phone being so darn huge and carried in my front pocket.
