3G toggle switch

I noticed on my Blu Win JR that it has a 3G toggle switch under the SIM settings. What does that do when it is switched on and then off?

i dont see this on My jr hd it helps u to toggle between 2g and 3g is what i know from my exp on my other android phone

I figured it was to allow 3g signal. When i switch it off i get no service at all. So i guess 3g is all i have at the moment.
