AT&T 640 XL Coming Soon

I would prefer an unlocked North American LTE variant of the 640 XL, but it does appear AT&T might be one of the first to make the Lumia 640 XL available in the US. I am eagerly awaiting this device, as an upgrade to my Lumia 635.

Well, I'm on AT&T and don't plan on switching. It's all good as far as it goes with me. ;)

Would be nice to know how much they'll be selling for, though. Still, nice to know it is coming.

I am on AT&T as well. It can be faster to get OS updates on a non-carrier branded phone. But I am excited to get this and very curious on pricing. I will be paying full price.

Same here. I will be on AT&T (& do not anticipate changing carriers) but would prefer a non-carrier branded phone (640 XL LTE) because I want to get OS updates direct from Microsoft. I want to assure that the non-carrier branded phone supports all of the bands that the AT&T branded version supports.

There is a NA LTE variant that will be unlocked and support AT&T bands. Just now sure when and where will get to buy it. Likely Expansys-USA, B&H Photo Video or Amazon.

I have one pre-ordered with them. However, from the specs listed, the model they will offer will NOT support LTE on AT&T and might not even support HSPA+ due to the bands supported by the model up for pre-order.

I can't believe they would do anything that stupid. I suspect they need to update their marketing materials. It's essentially the same guts as an 830, which does AT&T LTE just fine.

Also, hey Microsoft, why can't we just buy an unlocked NA version from one of your swanky stores? Seems kind of silly that to pay all that money for retail space and then not offer your products there.

There are multiple 640XL variants and not all support NA LTE bands. You will eventually see single and dual SIM versions, 3G and LTE versions, and region specific model. I saw a list in these forums with 5-6 models each for the 640 and 640 XL.
