I have been using 640 XL since a month and I'm facing trouble with my ear speaker. While making a call I can only hear if I turn on the speaker phone or connect ear phones. This is fixed when I remove battery and sim and start the phone. This goes on repeating 2 to 3 times a day. And I have to always remove battery and reinsert it to get going.
Is this a bug?
Help me please.
No proper response from service centre people also!!!

Can you try making a call (any arbitrary number so that it will just say something like "the number you dialed doesn't exist")? - the point is to get the earpiece speaker to run. Once it's running, press on the volume keys to make sure that the speaker volume isn't "0". Note that this speaker volume is the call volume level, not the ringtone, notifications or app sounds volume - and can only be accessed during calls. It's possible that the volume button was pressed during the call, muting the earpiece speaker. This is reset during a soft reset (as in taking out the battery, putting it back in then turning the phone on).

Sir I have been using windows phone OS since last 3 years. My call volume if full. That is not the issue.

Thanks for the info. What were the responses given to you by the "service center people"?

Hi! I have the same problem with my Lumia 640 XL. It think it is a bug, because not always happens. Sometimes, when I try to make a call, the front speaker doesn't work. The best way to quickly tweak that problem is to activate and deactivate the back speaker once the call has started. I hope that Microsoft fix this bug in the upcoming Windows 10 update.

Greetings!

It's a bug for sure. I don't know if it prevails only in Windows Mobile 10 preview builds or also in the 8.1 but I never had such issues while I was on 8.1. It's really a rather annoying issue. I mean I'm having an urgent private call and I have to turn on the Speaker amongst a crowd to hear from the other side. Can you imagine! Please help immediately to fix this problem. I am using Lumia 640 XL and the Insider Preview 10581 version.
