800 locked up

So my 800 is locked up to the point I can't turn it off. Is the only way to resolve this letting the battery die and hope it resets itself or is it bricked? I hope it isn't deadlined. I love it so much it sleeps with me on my pillow and I wisher sweet nothings into the speaker before I sleep! That part is a little made up but I do like this phone a lot.

Hold down the power button for 20 seconds or so and the phone will reset.

If just holding the power doesn't work then you can try:

Soft reset - hold power and volume down until the phone vibrates 3 times - equivalent to pulling the battery out.

Hard reset - hold power, volume down and the camera button until the phone vibrates then release power button and hold volume down and camera for a further five seconds. - WARNING - this will erase everything on your phone.
