Once I had that file opened, I am able to add "shes" to "she's" and also remove the extra space from the end of "isn't". I also hit CTRL-A to highlight the entire list (I'm using notepad to edit), and learned, wow, there's a lot of words with extra spaces at the end! So I'm painstakingly removing all of those.
Please tell me the RedFly driver had nothing to do with ruining this file.
What is the auto-correct issue laurieny is referring to, if not this one?
The auto correct issue laurieny is referring to has to do with Treo users needing to turn off auto-correct for some stuff to auto-finish (e-mail address when creating a new e-mail is one of them).
It has nothing to do with the dictionary.
The reason you have incorrect words in there is because you added them. Not intentionally, but at some point you typed them in wrong and the dictionary "learned" the incorrect word.
The dictionary learns (MUCH more so than WM5) in an attempt to better predict, assist, and speed up your typing.
Unfortunately if you type a word wrong (misspell it, put an extra space by mistake) it adds the incorrect word to the dictionary.
Sometimes it will add two words to the dictionary. When and why it does this, I have not been able to figure out.
As you already figured out, Word Corrector will let you fix the dictionary. It's a very slick little program, I periodically use it to clean up my dictionary if it's getting too bad.
