Think about LTE and all the apps you could install (that is if you still have enough space for internal storage). Remember, 720 is all about the camera, while 820 you can have like a mini Lumia 920, only it has interchangeable shells with colors to choose from or rugged ones if you want, if the back cover breaks... Get another one! It's that simple. Camera while it doesn't do well in low light, still takes great photos and videos in 1080p. Let's face it who uses the ffc everyday, it's not like everyone takes duck faced selfies everyday anytime anywhere, as long as you have a decent ffc for video chat you're covered! At least, in my opinion. And gyroscope, maybe not so important, but at least you have it if the app requires it.

While the camera on the 720 performs well, it's not as good as the 920's. The pictures are more blurry (the 920's are already blurry), at least that's what I saw in some youtube videos.
As for the unibody design, I'm not a big fan: my current lumia 800 has big scratches all over it and I can't change its shell.
Looks like I'm gonna get a 820. As you said LTE and RAM are major specs. There's the issue of WP9 also, I don't want to get stuck with WP8 if WP9 doesn't support 512MB RAM.
