822 not recognizing my sim card

Got a replacement 822 and installed the sim card. Phone does not recognize that it is installed. Any suggestions??

Try and wipe the sim card on a clean towel, if that doesn't work the sim might be scratched or the connectors in the phone are screwy.

Is the phone sim-unlocked?

If its a verizon 822, its sim unlocked no matter what.

Yeah, theres a setting in cellular, called global mode. Allows you to use any sim card like att or tmobile.

Strange. Mine doesn't have that option in Cellular
So, if I buy 822 from Verizon, even if it's under contract, it'll be unlocked, right?

It's GSM unlocked.
I'm using it with a GSM sim and im not even in the US.

Nope. It's grayed out and no drop down menu there
Carrier specific, maybe?
