I have never had the best battery life on my 920 but recently it's really dropped off a cliff. Dies after 5 hours under heavy usage. So I'm debating wether to try a hard reset, has anyone else done this? Did it help? Please let me know your experiences. Thanks guys!

By heavy use if your using ur phone constantly like apps. And there is a real helpful video on YouTube how to save battery on a windows 8 device you will get a bit more out of it, but unfortunately the battery will not last long if you use it heavily

Thanks Harjit. I should have said I've done all the usual tricks and tips (yea ALL of them) a hard reset is a last resort hence the post.

Depends on what apps you're using during this heavy usage period. Care to elaborate?

i had the same problem even on normal use i would only get like 10 hours max on normal use and now i get more than 14 hours and thats listening to music, checking my emails and surfing the net but i do point out that the new Face Book Beta app has been reported to waste a **** load of battery even when not signed in and background data turned off, i deleted the app and the problem had disappeared. Metro Tube wastes a **** load of battery as well and as well as playing games, also turn off automatic screen brightness and set it to 'low' and leave it there as it requires more battery on auto screen brightness due to constant light changes.

hope this helps ^.^ i have a Lumia 920 and i been through this difficult time, be strong brother be strong

Surfing the net mainly. But the phone is losing 10% an hour when dormant also. No new apps, no changes in use, just a crashing lack of battery power from out of nowhere. Like I said earlier it's never been great but now it's shockingly bad.

Thanks, I have the Beta Facebook app so may try that and I don't have Metrotube. Yeah display on low already, pretty convinced I have all the saving battery "tips" covered. This is serious though, hence my question regarding a hard reset as I've been through everything on every sight to see if I can avoid the pain that is a hard reset. Interested to hear from those who have done and what happened.

10% every hour? Ok, mines not that bad...i consider 5-6% with medium use (surf, watch a video or two, Weave/WPC) per hour where im at.

Some days when I leave work I still have 90% of battery at 530pm after unplugging it at 7am in the morning - this battery is awesome and just that people do not how to setup everything to have great battery life. Look up the battery life thread on the HTC 8x from that Cool guy.

I really can't stress enough how many "tips" I've executed to improve battery life, that's why I'm considering a hard reset. Thanks but I've done all I can other than a hard reset.

Same. I keep getting told on these forums that its not the phone...its me. I've spent hours upon hours reading and implementing the tips here, as well as others online and they haven't help make the battery last as long as id expect.

I really wish we had a debug mode.

Well, the first thing to do is remove the Facebook app and see what happens. After that do the hard reset then calibrate the battery meter by letting it go to 10% or so then do a full recharge. Do this a couple of times.

If none of that helps I suggest you exchange it. Your battery may just be going out. If after all that, well, then it is just your usage pattern and it may not be the phone for you. But I doubt you'll find any good smart phone that does much better.

Hope you get it worked out. The 920 is a sweet phone.

Thanks to everyone for their advice, although the "tips for 8X" are not wholly useful for a Nokia 920. Thanks anyway.

I think the most I've gotten out of my phone has been around 1day 9hours. Light to moderate use. 4G most of the time.

I have hard reset my phone and no difference some days it burns through the battery within 5 hours with hardly any use, There are 2 things I have noticed with my phone. Whattsapp makes the phone go into crazy discharge sometimes and internet explorer has the same effect. I have excepted that I need to keep a portable charger with me at all times. some days I never need it other days I use it twice. I was hoping yesterday announcement by Nokia would give me a phone I would like to switch to but it was not to be. looks like I have to put up with this inconsistent battery life for a few more months.
