950 stopped updating email accounts, Facebook and other apps

All of a sudden starting today, my ATT L950 running the anniversary update stopped updating my work and .me email accounts. I also notice I am no longer receiving notifications of activity on FB, Instagram and many other apps, and the "live" tiles stopped updating. I did a soft reset and started getting email for a while, but now back to basically no activity. I can get emails when I manually update, but otherwise the phone is just sitting there not acting "smart" at all.

I did a soft reset, but have not yet resorted to deleting and reinstalling my email accounts and apps. Anything I should do short of that?

Never mind. I discovered that for some reason battery saver was set to turn on when power fell below 90%. I didn't make that change, but that was the cause of the issue.

So you're saying live tiles go off if battery saver is on?

Yes, because battery saver limits/shuts off app background refreshes.
