950 xl not visible on windows 10 PC

[Windows Central Question]

It used to be that when I plugged my phone in to the PC it would appear in file manager and I could drag and drop files.

Now it doesn't appear.

In device manager it appears under portable devices as an MTP USB device (although it used to appear as a Lumia or a windows phone) and under USB it appears 3 times as a lumia.

In both areas of device manager it shows no problems.

Under portable devices I can't uninstal/ update driver etc the boxes are greyed out.

Under the USB section I can uninstall and I've tried this several times but it doesn't help even if I tick the check box to uninstall the software.

did you recently update the phone or pc or both? That might have caused something to go wrong

For now, try a soft reset (restart) for both pc and phone and then check again
