A couple of questions

I just got this phone this past week. I had to replace my BB 8830 due to the power jack starting to flake out and not charge the phone. There was no other phone OS on my list except WP7 due to it offering Zune support. I loved my ZuneHD and the UI. Apple was never an option. The way that Evil Empire runs disgusts me. Anyway, a couple of things I am having issues with:

1. Sound volume: the ringer and mp3 player have the volume linked. On my BB the volume for the ringer was separate from the rest of the phones features. So I could listen to music at one level and the ringer could be on loud. Now I have to have the volume cranked to hear the ringer. Then when I want to listen to mp3's I have to turn it down below 10. This is rather annoying to say the least.

2. Alarm: I have it set to vibrate and a lot of the time you get the OSD saying the alarm is sounding with no vibration. I work in Afghanistan and live in a tent with 9 other guys. I have to keep the alarm on vibrate so as to not wake any of them when I get up at 0100 everyday. I have also noticed when the alarm message pops up on the screen it pops up twice. So I have to hit 'dismiss' twice. Is this a known issue?

As far as the rest of my experience this week it has been enjoyable. I don't care much for app's, so WP7 not have 300k+ app's to chose from is no issue. The crazy thing about the sound on it is that it actually sounds better then my ZuneHD when listening to the same music through the same headphones.

#1... As far as I know, the volumes are all the same except for the in call volume and right now there's no real way to change that. What you can do however, is have the volume at whatever level and press the volume rocker and press that little bell to set it to vibrate and it'll quite everything down except your media volume. I know this is pretty much the opposite of what you're looking to do, but unfortunately those are the only profiles available right now.

#2... I've never had problems with the alarms. If your trying to get the alarms to vibrate only you should be able to by setting it to vibrate as i mentioned above.

Is there an app or way of having the phone shut down for X amount of hours a day and restart itself? My BB had it. It kept me from being woken up at night when emails and texts would come in during my off hours.

As of now there isn't, but if its just silencing you want then you could go into settings > ringtones & sounds > vibrate tab (slide it to the left to turn vibrate off) then from that same screen you can also turn of the ringer which includes notifications. Once that's done the volume is really only for media at that point and if you want to turn the ringer back on you can toggle it from the pop down menu that shows up when you press the volume rocker and pressing the little bell will switch you between fully silent and ringer if you go back into the menu and turn vibrate back on then the pop down shortcut goes back to toggling between ringer and vibrate.
