A query

When the developer preview comes out on April 10th []Search | Windows Phone Central would this mean that we would not be able to use any of our apps because they have to be optimized for 8.1 which I think most developers haven't done yet.

This wont be a problem. All apps written for 8.0 will run on 8.1 also.

all the windows phone 7.x and 8.0 apps will work on windows phone 8.1
developers can update the apps by taking advantage of new API that will be introduced with windows phone 8.1 , for instance an app would be able to record a video from the phone's screen , developers need to add this feature on their apps :smile:

Dude.. This post sounds ridiculous because it ends with "Discuss".. it made me feel that my sitting in an examination hall and facing a question which ends with "Discuss"..:grin:

To answer your question.. Dont worry.. All apps will run more smoothly than it is currently running on your phone..
