Quick Launch Back Button

Heard a while back that Microsoft were planning to kill the Back Button to ensure people use the home button more. So i had an idea which i got from a concept video on youtube. This could be useful as a back button replacement or even otherwise running above all apps. So just leaving this here if any of you find it interesting.

If this is true, this could almost be controversial as when microsoft did not have the start menu in the initial release of windows 8; wondering how this is going to pan out.

Huh??? Where did you hear this? The way Windows Phone works, that's an awful idea. The only way for this to work well is if some major changes came in the way the UI and multitasking is set up.
