Most reps will push what they use. I don't think once MS apps their reps into stores, they will point out the strong points of Android and iOS over WP7.
As far as apps go, I think it's more than the social apps. We it is for people who are out of HS. Pretty much all banks have apps for iOS/Android, credit card companies, insurance companies, and local business have apps for iOS/Android, but not many have them for WP7. Also when dealing with apps, if they are going to be released, it's pretty much it's a sure bet it's coming to Android and iOS, but a lot of devs play the "wait and see" with WP7.

The main 'apps' I can see some consumers missing are the social games like WWF and Draw Something. I think if MS can get Zynga and other companies on board to create social games that work across iOS/Android and WP, they'd have a much better chance of selling devices. However, other than those social games, I don't think there really is a lack of apps - main ones are mostly covered.
