Add photos back to phone? Not detected.

How can you add the 34 or 38 megapixel photos back to the phone from PC and have the phone detect them? When I copied a few shots back to camera roll it did not show up on the phone.

I tried using the detect photos option in Nokia Camera setting but still nothing. The photo is copied correctly when in file explorer on PC but does not show up on the phone.

I wanted to copy it back to use it in a photo app on the phone.

Anyone know how to do this?

Have you maybe tried using Windows Phone App??

No I don't have that even installed since you can easily move files around with Windows Explorer I did not find it necessary. Does the phone detect the high res photos if you move them back using the app?

Mine seems ok if you copy them to a folder other than camera roll. Whole dilemma deciding whether to keep 5mp or high res shots or shoot in dng though.

I tried copying it to other folders as well; the 5mp pics show up ok, but the 34/38mp ones don't show up on the phone in the folder I copied them to. I tried camera roll, saved pictures, even tried to create my own folder, but the high res photos just aren't detected by my 1020 when copied back to the phone.

I am getting rather annoyed by this.

Hmm perhaps Photoshop has changed some metadata that the Nokia Camera app/gallery use to identify it's own photos? Have you tried comparing the metadata from an original and edited image?

Strange. The ones I copied back had been edited in photoshop ao maybe that has something to do with it.

I haven't done any alteration to the ones I tried copying back, that's why I found it strange that they were not detected. Maybe it's because they were taken with Nokia Pro Cam and now I updated to Nokia camera after Black update? Still strange. I hope there is a solution out there.

Very strange. I've never had a problem copying images back and then using the 'detect' option for them to show again.

Hope you find a solution.

Here's what I think the problem is that you are experiencing - the 1020 cannot display the large version of the file.

In settings, you have the option to shoot either 5+34 or 5 alone. In Camera Roll, it is the 5Mp version that is displayed.

My experiment was this: I shot a photo in 5+34 and checked it was in Camera Roll. I then used Windows Explorer to delete the 5Mp version from the phone, leaving only the 34Mp on there. I rechecked on the phone itself, and the photo had now disappeared from the Camera Roll.

So in copying back to the phone, I guess you need to make it a small version.

That's a good point, perhaps copying back both the 5mp and 34mp versions will result in Nokia Camera being able to open the bigger version.
I hope MS fixes this in WP8.1 so the OS can natively display the 34/38mp photos. It's just incredible how MS is dragging its feet with such key features.

I don't mean to hijack your thread OP, but anyone know about how to get the phone to detect those .NAR files? The multi shot file? I have a loaner (because I cracked my screen, glass was actually falling out but the display and touch all worked fine!)
