Alarm volume

I liked my old iPhone "Harp" alarm tone, so found a copy, lowered it a little bit and added to my phone. The volume difference on maximum on the phone is now hugely improved. I guess we'll find out Monday morning! Thanks to DaveR12 for the suggestion, I was able to lower the volume very easily using the Gain, on the right hand side of the track once loaded into the Audacity (for those that want to use their own tracks). I have attached mine, it may be of use to you.

Clearly is does need fixing; Why would you not want control?: I'd much prefer not to wake the whole house up at 05:30 in the morning.

I am really annoyed that I have signed up for a 2 year subscription for my new Win8 phone, only to find that it doesn't function like a normal phone has since the mid-90s :( Ear-splittingly loud alarm which can't be customised, no ability to toggle the phone to silent easily unless you turn off all vibrating alerts, no ability to listen to music quietly without turning the phone ringer down quietly too, which means that you then miss any subsequent calls - or conversely if you want the phone ringer loud enough to hear when people call you, you have to listen to music that's too loud to be comfortable. I had better phone options on my very first mobile. I was not expecting to have to keep hold of my old blackberry after I bought my Win8 phone, just so that I can use it as an alarm clock!

Doesn't need fixed. Was the same way on my HD7 and I never thought of a reason I would need an alarm to be quiet.

So you think there is nothing between quiet and full volume? I don't really want to wake everyone at the house when I want to wake up and go to work.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. I get up earlier than my wife and my phone blasts every morning. I've even uploaded quiet soothing songs, but it's like the phone hates me and just increases the volume on these even more. Microsoft needs to fix this! Every Android phone I had in the past has no problem with this function, how is it that Microsoft can't address this?

There's an app called "Gentle Alarm Clock" that wakes softly.
It has two alarms: pre-alarm and main alarm. Pre-alarm goes off a little before the main alarm and you can set pre-alarms volume as low as you want. If you miss the pre-alarm, there's main alarm that eventually wake you up with louder sound. This app will make your mornings easier and doesn't disturb your partner.
